Varsities In Bulgaria Offering Admission To Nigerian Students Fleeing Russia’s Invasion War In Ukraine.

The Bulgarian ambassador to Nigeria, Yanko Yardonov, has said. The universities in Bulgaria will be giving admission to Nigerian students, that were affected by the Russian war in Ukraine. He said, “Let me say Bulgarian have already offered admission to Nigerian citizens who started their studies in Ukraine but can not graduate from there due to the war.
It is only for Nigerian students that have this kind of offer from Bulgarian universities throughout the world,” he said.
This was disclosed in an interview with journalists in Abuja. The ambassador also added that some of the Nigerian students have been offered jobs by the Bulgarian Universities.

“I think the fact alone is a clear manifestation that Bulgaria is very serious in developing bilateral cooperation in every possible way, including in education, by admitting Nigerian citizens legally to study and work in Bulgaria,” he said.

He also said the statistics have shown that the Bulgarian government has allowed a significant number of Nigerians in Bulgaria, either on a long-term or a short-term visitation, stating that both countries have enjoyed a good relationship.
He said, “there is a lot of good news in this regard as well, but what I am proud of is the glorious offer that Bulgaria has made,” he said.

Nigerian students make up (5.4%) of the 80,000 international students studying in Ukraine, making them the fifth largest international students. This data was revealed by Ukraine’s minister for education.

Before the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, there were approximately 4,300 Nigerian students studying in the Eastern European country.
